Welcome to Pikes Peak

Welcome to Pikes Peak Americas Mountain

and almost our National Anthem “America the Beautiful”.

We of course did not as Katharine Lee Bates take a horse-drawn carriage, that could not go further than the Halfway House “Glen Cove”, where they had to switched to burros for the remaining six miles of the trip. We had the privilege in driving in our own comfortable vehicle. It was amazing, breath taking.

When I arrived myself in Colorado Springs CO, I was taken by Pikes Peak. What a Mountain, all I could say was wau, wau, what breathtaking scenery. I must agree with Katharine Lee Bates, an English teacher who in 1893 agreed to take a summer teaching position at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, who after visiting the top-summit of Pikes Peak in a carriage ride up Pikes Peak, wrote in her diary… ”we stood at last on that Gate-of-Heaven summit…and gazed in wordless rapture over the far expanse of mountain ranges and the sea-like sweep of plain”.

I learned that in 1993, 100 years after Bates ascended Pikes Peak, a Colorado Springs’ businessman by name Costas Rombocos donated an “America the Beautiful” monument that was placed at the top of Pikes Peak. The monument can be seen on the observation platform to the south of the Summit House.

One of my favor songs are the Lyrics of the “America the Beautiful” song.

When you move hear or just pop in for a visit, you must visit Pikes Peak and the summit house. Please be kind to the Mountain, take the time out for this special trip, there is nothing like this out there. It is about 36 miles and the speed limit is 25 miles. Yes No it’s not the Autobahn.

Many of my client’s over the years have shared with me they can’t get enough of this beautiful Mountain Pikes Peak. You surely can’t miss it, it is located west of Colorado Springs, and you can see it almost anywhere in the city. Well it is 14,115 feet high and is part of Colorado’s 14ers club. Zebulon Pike Jr. founded it in 1806.
